Video Testimonials

Fable

Video testimonials reimagined

Challenge

The BEFORE site treats customer testimonials as a volume game: "at scale," "powerful social proof," "effortless." It reduces genuine customer experiences to metrics and review counts. The product screenshot shows a meeting room, not actual stories.

Target User

B2B marketing directors who are frustrated that their "500+ five-star reviews" convince no one. They understand that real persuasion comes from narrative, not numbers.

Key Insight

Star ratings say nothing. One genuine customer story changes more minds than fifty shallow reviews. The brand needed to feel like an editorial publication, not a feedback widget.

Fable is a fictional brand from the Vox Animus demo library. This case study demonstrates the Brand Schema methodology using realistic scenarios indie builders face.

Why This Matters

BEFORE: "Turn Customer Stories Into Revenue." Transactional. Stories exist to make money. AFTER: "Stars say nothing. Stories change minds." Philosophical. Challenges the star rating paradigm directly. The shift reframes what testimonials are for.

Primary CTA

Why This Matters

BEFORE: Blue "Get Started Free." Default SaaS. Says nothing about what you are starting. AFTER: Amber "Start collecting stories." Specific action. The color matters. Blue is everywhere. Amber is intentional.

Why This Matters

BEFORE: "One-Click Recording" with "intuitive interface." Feature-first. Describes mechanics. AFTER: "Prompts that extract story." Outcome-first. Describes what the customer gets. The question "How would you rate us?" is explicitly rejected.

Questions the value of star ratings. Respects narrative craft. "Your customers have stories. Star ratings cannot tell them."

5 Never Rules

Never display star ratings prominently. Never celebrate review volume over story quality. Never use stock photos. Never say "powerful" or "effortless." Never sound like a review platform.

The Difference

Before Signals

  • Blue SaaS template colors

  • AI-slop phrases: "effortless," "at scale," "powerful," "Seamless"
  • "Get Started Free" generic CTA
  • Stock meeting room imagery

After Signals

  • Editorial indigo/amber/cream palette
  • "Stars say nothing. Stories change minds." (philosophical)
  • Story-focused language: "thoughtful prompts," "surface story"
  • "Start collecting stories" specific CTA
  • Warm, authentic visual approach

Key Difference

Before felt like a feedback widget that happens to do video. After feels like an editorial platform that respects the craft of storytelling.
